Nancy Josephine Wooters Edwards
Nancy Josephine Wooters Edwards, age 95, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born May 12, 1926 in Bridgeport, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George Benjamin and Mary Helen Wilkinson Southern.
She was of the Lutheran faith. She was a graduate of Salem High School and also attended Salem College. In 1944, she started working with the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C., then for the majority of her working life worked as an auditor with the Social Security Administration. Nancy was a member of Ye Towne of Bath NSDAR and the Morgan County Historical Society. She sang with the Handel Choir of Baltimore and enjoyed quilting, genealogy and playing the piano. Nancy had been a homemaker in recent years.
She is survived by her children, Dale Jean Wooters Kazmerski and her husband Jimmy of Glen Burnie, Md. and Robert Lee Wooters and his wife Dottie of Bel Air, Md., two sisters, Karen Sue Southern Krause of Oswego, N.Y. and Jane Lynn Southern VanOOyen of Clarksburg, W.Va., one brother, George Benjamin Southern, Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va., three grandchildren, Richard William Wooters of Honolulu, Hawaii, Amy M’Liss Frounfelker of Bel Air, Md. and Jennifer Rebecca Nowakowski of Delta, Pa., seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Richard Wooters in 1970, her second husband, Clyde Remely Edwards in 2014, two brothers, James Lee Southern and David Lewis Southern and one sister, Mary Catherine Southern Cochrane.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be in Greenwood Grove Cemetery.
