Berkeley Springs nursing home has large COVID-19 outbreak

by Kate Evans

There has been a recent large outbreak of COVID-19 cases at the Stonerise Healthcare Berkeley Springs Center, according to the Stonerise Healthcare website and the West Virginia Department of Health and Resources (DHHR) COVID-19 websites.

The Stonerise Healthcare website lists their Berkeley Springs Center as having 28 patients positive for COVID-19 as of Tuesday, September 14.  The center currently has 88 patients.

Some 60 patients are shown as negative for or recovered from the virus.

The DHHR COVID-19 website indicates that the Berkeley Springs Center COVID outbreak consisted of nine active positive resident cases and two active positive staff cases, as of Friday, September 10. Two other staff members are listed as recovered.

There are now nine cumulative staff COVID-19 cases along with the new nine cumulative COVID-19 resident cases shown on the DHHR website. The DHHR website updates the case count for long-term care facilities every Friday morning so their data isn’t as current.

The Stonerise Berkeley Springs Center had an outbreak back in April of five staff COVID-19 cases, but previously had no COVID-19 cases in residents.

Stonerise Healthcare marketing director Kristin Anderson said in April that the Stonerise Berkeley Springs Center had administered the COVID-19 vaccine to 89% of its patients and 79% of its team members when the staff outbreak occurred. Anderson could not be reached for more current information on the outbreak and vaccination rates.

To check the status of in-person visitation of patients at the nursing and rehab facility, call the   Stonerise Healthcare Berkeley Springs Center at 304-258-3673. A staff member said their facility is in touch with families of their patients on a daily basis.

So many obituaries in the Morgan Messenger and Hancock News these days. Why is that?

How can this be ? ( Stonerise Berkeley Springs Center had administered the COVID-19 vaccine to 89% of its patients and 79% of its team members when the staff outbreak occurred.) Hasn’t there been reports from the CDC and FDA that the Vaccine is “EFFECTIVE” Against the Covid-19 virus ? I’m one of those who question everything .. Why is there such a high outbreak with the amount of infective as reported ?? ( As the Morgan Messenger posted in their article ) Someone needs to come up with some answers for this
