Attendance guidelines for high and middle school winter sports

by Jamie Harris
The WVSSAC released winter sports attendance guidelines last week for high and middle schools to follow.
Attendance will be limited to parents, grandparents and household members for all winter sports contest with the exception of swim. Swim will adhere to facility guidelines and limitations.
Tournament attendance will vary according to facility guidelines.
If a county/school is designated as remote learning, no practices or contests can be held during that time period.
Once a county/school resumes either in person or blended learning, practices and contests can resume.
Cheerleaders for the home team only will be allowed to attend and will follow same attendance guidelines as players. It is recommended that cheerleading squads be split and alternate games to reduce the number of cheerleaders on the floor for basketball due to limited space.
