Four arrested in drug search

A police search tied to a drug investigation last week in ended in several arrests and seizure of a variety of drugs.

According to a press release from Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer, officers from the Sheriff’s Department, the Town of Bath, West Virginia State Police and the Eastern Panhandle Drug Violent Crime Task Force made the arrests after serving a search warrant on Fairbee Road in the Highland Ridge area of Morgan County on Tuesday, January 12.

Capt. Tim Stapleton of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department led the investigation, and arrested Donald Lee Masters, 58, of Berkeley Springs on an indictment capias for two counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

When officers arrived at the Fairbee Road residents, nine people were located in the house, said Sheriff Bohrer. They were secured until police could identify them.

Bohrer said “significant amounts of suspected cocaine, crustal methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl and other unknown substances were seized.”

In addition to Masters, three more people were charged in the course of the police operation.

Sheriff Bohrer arrested Brian K, Golden, 52, of Berkeley Springs for possession with the intent to deliver heroin and fentanyl. Golden was indicted on those same charges by the Morgan County Grand Jury on January 5.

Deputy B. Knotts arrested Amy Y. Keefer, 26, of Berkeley Springs on a felony warrant out of Frederick County, Va. for felony possession of controlled substances.

Cpl. S. R. Smith of the West Virginia State Police arrested John Barber of Berkeley Springs on an outstanding warrant.

Deputies Roper and Cook and Berkeley Springs Police Chief Tony Link also served the search warrant and assisted with the operation.

Sheriff Bohrer said Capt. Stapleton’s investigation into the drug dealing operation is ongoing.

    I happen to be blessed to know a few of the officers in Morgan County. To say that I am proud of them and blessed to think of them as friends is an understatement!! To me, they are heroes who risk it all everyday they walk out their front door! A man couldn’t ask for more from them but they never fail to give more to ALL THE CITIZENS OF MORGAN COUNTY!!
