Martha V. Rider
Martha Viola Rider (Siegner), age 95 of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Thursday, January 14, 2021 in her home.
Born April 22, 1925 in Hyndman, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Adam Siegner and Oral (Mull) Siegner.
Martha was a Christian and lived her life daily based on her strong faith in God. She was an active church member of First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. She loved, prayed and cared for her friends from the church and the Isaac and Rebekah Sunday School Class.
Her greatest love was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Some of her greatest memories and contributions came from her time spent as a public-school cook as she loved cooking and watching people enjoy her food. Martha loved all people and would feed anyone that needed a meal. She also loved watching sports on the television, especially WVU.
She is survived by her son Edward “Eddie” Rider of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two grandsons, Zachary Rider and his wife Krystal of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Joshua Rider and his wife Tiffany of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; five great grandsons, United States Marine Dominic Rider stationed in California, Avery Rider, Kaden Rider, Karsin Rider and Kamden Rider; one son-in-law Steve Steiner of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one daughter-in-law Elizabeth “Lydie” McCoy of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and one sister, Geraldine Bagley of Hyndman, Pa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert “Toad” Rider; daughter, Miriam Rider; brothers Charles Siegner, Irvin Siegner, Harry Siegner; sisters Ida Fields, Leila Meyers and Annie Siegner.
Service and burial are private but will take place in Friendship Cemetery in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Joshua Rider and Pastor Kenny Mason presiding.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martha’s name can be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 278 North High Street, Romney, WV 26757.
