Myra E. Hendershot
Myra Ethel Hendershot, age 87, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away in her home on Saturday, July 25, 2020.
Born December 18, 1932, in Amaranth, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fred R. and Inez (Leasure) Mellott; and the widow of Claude “Bee” Hendershot, whom she was married to for forty-seven years and who died March 2, 1996.
She attended school in Amaranth. Myra was a member of the Whips Cove Church of Warfordsburg, Pa. and was active in the church’s organizations.
She worked as a waitress for twenty-one years; and was formerly employed as a quality control specialist for the Garden State Tannery.
She was a former Girl Scout leader; a member of Lucille’s Quilting Club; an avid gardener; quilter; painter; and floral arranger.
Myra is survived by one son, Willis Hendershot and wife, Rose; five daughters, Barbara Shives and husband, Barry, Cathy Cosenza and husband, John, Carole Zirkle and husband, Zane, Becky Litsky and husband, Matthew, and Linda Sowers and husband, Donnie; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Freddie Hendershot; a sister, Audrey Nichols; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family received friends at the Whips Cove Church, 5044 Moss Road, Warfordsburg, Pa., on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, from 9 until 11 a.m. Her funeral service began at 11 a.m. with Rev. Delmas Bard officiating. Burial followed in the Church cemetery.
