George W. White
George Wilson White, age 87, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. died on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Clary Gove Rehabilitation and Nursing home in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Born July 23, 1932 in Cherry Run, W.Va. he was the son of the late Gold W. and Katherine M. McCallister White.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Wednesday morning Men’s Bible Study.
He was a graduate of Berkeley Springs, High School class of 1950. He earned varsity letters in football and baseball.
While living in Falls Church area, he coached T-Ball and Little League. He was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, the Washington Nationals, and all sports of West Virginia.
During the Korean conflict he served in the U.S. Army for two years. Following his Honorable Discharge as Sergeant, he worked for The Western Railway Company in Hagerstown, Md., and then moved to Northern Virginia area where he worked for a number of Electronics firms before retiring in 1994 from EG&G, In.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Relda J. White at home, one son, Darrin R. White and wife Linda of Centreville, Virginia, one granddaughter, Amanda R White of Woodbridge, Va., one sister, Ruth Michael of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and a number of nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Max, seven sisters, Joyce Bare, Mary Johnson, Margaret Triggs, Dorothy Welshans, Wanda Eversole, Patricia White and Alice Fearnow.
Funeral Services were conducted on Sunday, December 15 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 49 S Green Street, Berkeley Springs,
Burial with military honors will be conducted on December 18 at 11 a.m. at National Memorial Park at 7485 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Va.
Family received friends on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 36 S Green Street, Berkeley Springs, WV.
Memorial contributions may be made to Isaac and Rebekah Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church and to the Shriners Hospital for children at 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 Att: Terry Diamond.
