Barker and Tanouye capture Class A PVC Championship

Last Wednesday, May 1 the members of the Paw Paw track and field team ventured to Elkins High School for the Class A Potomac Valley Conference Championships.

Paw Paw was able to take home three PVC individual titles thanks to the outstanding efforts of two of their athletes.

On the girls side freshman Alexis Barker captured her first PVC title in the shot put with a winning throw of 28’7 ¾”. Barker also finished in seventh place in the discus with a throw of 66’2”. Marissa Moreland finished in sixth place in the 1600 meters with a time of 8:24. Moreland finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 3:18.

On the boys side sophomore distance running specialist Dominic Tanouye added two more PVC titles to his accolades. Tanouye took first place in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:01. Tanouye also captured the 3200 meters with a time of 11:36.

Brett Truax placed in ninth place in the long jump with a distance of 14’11 ½”.

Paw Paw will next travel to the Class A Region II Championships Thursday, May 9 at Lewis County High School.
