Hilda M. Fox
Hilda Marie Fox, 94, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born February 23, 1924 in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late John P. Shriver and Jessie M. Michael Shriver.
She was a 1942 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
She was employed at Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown, Md., and also worked at National Fruit in Winchester, Va. Her last years of employment were at Widmyer Elementary School where she was known as “the lunch lady.”
She was a 70 year member of Berkeley Chapter #77 Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Retired School Service Personnel.
She was the oldest member of Wesley Chapel U.M. Church on Pious Ridge.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Fox McCumbee and Jeannine Fox (Terry Murphy); grandsons, Jeremy McCumbee, Michael Murphy and Seth Murphy, all of Berkeley Springs; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Arthur Lee Fox, who died in 1984; brothers, George Nelson “Dick” Shriver, Robert Shriver, John C. Shriver and a stillborn baby brother.
The family received friends at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services were held at Wesley Chapel U.M. Church on Pious Ridge on Tuesday, January 29, at 11 a.m. There was a viewing at the church one hour prior to service.
