One of the suspects in the murder of 60-year old Hancock resident Edward Gilhart will be heading to trial in March.
According to Franklin County District Attorney Matthew Fogal, the trial for Ryan Horton, 29, has officially been listed to begin March 11, 2019.
“A jury will be selected that morning, and once selected, the trial will begin immediately,” Fogal said in an email to the Hancock News.
As for the other two suspects, Emily Tucker, 24, and Christian Harris, 21, Fogal said they are listed as Commonwealth witnesses and it is common procedure for active cases involving Commonwealth witnesses to be continued while the case going to trial is pending.
Gilhart was murdered on June 2, 2016, in what police described as a staged robbery scheme near Mercersburg in Franklin County.
Gilhart was on his way to work in the early morning that day when he stopped his car to examine a duffle bag in the middle of the road.
Harris and Horton then came from behind a rock, shooting Gilhart multiple times and removing the contents of his wallet, including $24 in cash.
Gilhart’s vehicle was found approximately 25 miles away from the murder scene in Fulton County along Mill Hill Road.
