A Knoxville, Md. woman died today, Friday, November 2, following a single vehicle accident near Berkeley Springs.
According to a press release from Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer and information from Morgan County 911, the accident happened in the 500 block of Winchester Grade Road (Route 13) shortly before 10:30 a.m.
According to Sheriff Bohrer, Deputy Luke Shambaugh responded to the crash. At the scene, the deputy found that a single vehicle – a 2006 Buick Rendezvous – had been traveling northbound on the road, had crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver of the vehicle, France Brashears, 66, was transported to Winchester Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Deputy Shambaugh is continuing his investigation into the fatal crash.
Winchester Grade Road was shut down to traffic for an hour during the accident scene investigation, reopening at 11:36 a.m.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Morgan County EMS and the Berkeley Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
