The public is invited to a celebration to congratulate and welcome home USA Special Olympics double gold medal winner Ashley Harford on Tuesday, July 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. by the Berkeley Springs State Park gazebo. DJ Rick Rohn will be providing music for the event and refreshments are planned. In case of rain, the celebration will be held at Widmyer Elementary.
Harford, who is a Berkeley Springs resident, won two gold medals – one in mini-javelin and one in shot put – this past week in her division at the 2018 Special Olympics in Seattle, Washington.
Harford, 27, is a Berkeley Springs High School graduate. She is the daughter of Mark and Ginny Harford of Berkeley Springs. Ginny Harford is a former Morgan County Schools head nurse and school nurse for Widmyer Elementary.
