Fabulous Mary Ann Redmond Band plays Saturday
The aptly named Fabulous Mary Ann Redmond Band comes to Berkeley Springs State Park Saturday, August 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the last concert of the 26th Morgan Arts Council’s Summer Concerts in the Park series. The rain location is the nearby Ice House art center.
Over the years, Redmond has won 19 Wammies from the Washington Area Music Association, paying tribute to her versatile vocals, from blues and jazz to rock-pop and traditional roots, and to her amazing voice, which soars effortlessly from alto to soprano.
A native of Richmond, Va., Redmond has toured with her close friend Mary Chapin Carpenter (the first and only background singer Carpenter has even brought on board), and has opened for an array of artists including The Pointer Sisters, The Neville Brothers, Ashford and Simpson, The O’Jays and Smokey Robinson.
Major sponsors for the concert series are Lot 12, Best Western Berkeley Springs Inn and the Star Theatre. Additional funding support comes from the National Endowment for the Arts and the West Virginia Commission on the Arts as well as local hotel-motel tax revenues.
