Young artist at Opera Colorado

Morgan Harmison of Berkeley Springs, daughter of Nancy and Bill Harmison, has been selected as the soprano young artist at Denver’s Opera Colorado for the 2012-2013 season.

As a young artist she will be performing the role of Juliette in Gounod’s Romeo and Juliette at the Ellie Caukins Opera House.

She will also be performing the roles of Micaela in Carmen and Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia.
In addition to these roles she will have the opportunity to audition for supporting roles in the mainstage production of Don Giovanni and in the world premiere of The Scarlet Letter.

The young artist also performs in Opera Colorado’s statewide outreach programs through in-school performances and workshops. Nearly 30,000 students annually are exposed to opera, helping to make Colorado a leader in arts education.

Harmison currently resides in New York City and studies with Irene Gubrud. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Carnegie Mellon University and her Master of Music from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati.
