Midnight raid nets heroin
Members of the Morgan County Sheriff’s SWAT team conducted an early morning drug raid at the residence of Theodore A. Bean, 38, of Fairview Drive, Berkeley Springs around midnight, Wednesday, August 1.
Police reported finding about 1.8 grams of suspected heroin with an estimated street value of $700 and other materials for use and sale of illegal drugs inside a bedroom occupied by Bean.
Bean was charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, said Sheriff Vince Shambaugh, who called the investigation ongoing with other charges possible.
The raid was led by Shambaugh and Swat Team members Lieutenant Tim Stapleton, Deputy First Class (DFC) Scott Lemon, DFC Kevin Barney and DFC Dennis Jenkins.
Bean was arraigned in Magistrate Court and transported to the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg. He was later released on $25,000 bond.
Second raid
Three days later, Sheriff Shambaugh and members of the Swat Team raided a North Washington Street apartment in Berkeley Springs.
Suspected prescription pills were located and confiscated during the Saturday, August 4 raid, police reported.
Police are awaiting official identification of the pills by the state forensic lab.
The suspect’s name is being withheld due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. Possible felony charges include delivery of a controlled substance and possession with the intent to deliver illegal drugs.
