Carl E. Farris

Carl Edward Farris, 84, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at his residence.

Born December 25, 1927 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Alonzo Thomas and Nellie Elizabeth Farlow Farris.

He attended Peoples Assembly of God in Great Cacapon.

He was a World War II veteran with the United States Army, where he served as Corporal.

He retired in 1987 as a maintenance worker for General Motors in Martinsburg. He worked during his younger years cutting timber and worked in Ohio in a steel mill.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Romaine Whisner Farris at home; five daughters, Nancy Farris, Charleston, Tina Owens, Medford, Ore., Dina Stotler, Josi McCumbee and Cindy Farris all of Berkeley Springs; two sons, Mark Farris and Jon Farris, both of Great Cacapon; one sister, Carolyn Faye James-Cheek, Berkeley Springs; one brother, Bobby T. Farris of Pennsylvania; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Tim Farris and Mike Farris; one brother, Harry Farris and one grandson, Zachary Jordan Didawick.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 3 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs, with Rev. Jeff Dissmore officiating. Burial was in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
