Vietnam Memorial update
Dear Editor:
In the past few months, people have been asking me two questions. What happened to my Jeep, and how is Vietnam Veterans Memorial project going.
After receiving 269 Veterans signatures, “Faded Glory” has been retired and donated to the Top Kick Military Museum in Petersburg, where it will be on display for all to see.
The owner, Mr. Bland, said veterans are welcome to visit the museum and see their name.
As for the memorial project, it’s moving along slowly. In order to get a grant, I must raise 10% of the total cost. With the price estimated at $150,000, I need $15,000.
With the help from friends, drawings and private donations I have accumulated a little over $2,000, enough for a good start.
I will be at the car show at the Moose, August 4, selling “git-along sticks” and asking for donations.
If anyone would care to write a check, they can make it out to the Morgan County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation and send it to me at 1337 Pious Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
