Fern K. Neely
Fern Katherine Neely, age 94, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born March 9, 1918 in Sleepy Creek, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Elizabeth Silvers Goller.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She attended Lowman’s School in Sleepy Creek. Fern retired as a riveter with Fairchild Industries in 1980 with 30 years of service. She worked at Prowler Industries in Hancock, Md. She was a dairy farmer and a homemaker in recent years. She was an avid gardener and loved to can vegetables.
Fern is survived by one daughter, Iva Lou Beddow and husband, Floyd of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Cora Swaim of Hagerstown, MD and Twila Keifer of Martinsburg; one brother, John Goller of Inwood; four grandchildren, Connie Beddow Stotler, Annette Beddow, Malinda Beddow Ayers and Kimberly Beddow Reed all of Berkeley Springs; six great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Bernard Neely on July 26, 1968; one brother, Charles Goller; three sisters, Louise Ruble, Rosalie Roe and Sylvia Webb and one infant sister, Ruby.
Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 67 Liberty Street, Berkeley Springs, WV, with Rev. Fr. Leonard A. Smith as celebrant. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV, with a rosary service conducted at 7:30 p.m.
