Humane Society runs on donations
Dear Editor:
The Humane Society of Morgan County is not animal control. We are a private, not-for profit, no-kill shelter. We take in adoptable dogs and cats and work diligently to find them the loving homes they so deserve, while keeping them healthy through proper daily care, vaccines and vet checks.
We receive no operating funds from state or local governments. Your taxes do not support the Humane Society. We depend entirely on fundraising, donations and adoption fees to meet budget demands. That is never an easy task and has become even more difficult in the current economy.
Adoption fees do not even cover the cost of testing, vaccinating and neutering of animals that we take in. For these reasons, we count on your generosity to support our efforts. We are here to help the community.
Important announcement: Effective immediately we are accepting dogs into our adoption program again. We had temporarily stopped accepting dogs due to budgetary concerns. We are working hard to resolve this issue. With your help and support, we will continue to accept dogs for adoptions.
We encourage anyone who has questions or concerns, or who just want to learn more about the Humane Society, to call 304-258-5592 or stop by during our open hours, Monday through Saturday 11 to 4:30.

President, Board of Directors
