David W. McCumbee

David Wayne McCumbee, 52, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, June 9, 2012 near Hancock.

Born December 27, 1959, he was the son of Armeta Mae Whisner Gaither of Hancock and the late Henry Frank McCumbee, Jr.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a 1977 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

He worked as an independent drywall mechanic and carpenter.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Heidy Nicole McCumbee and Kirbi Danielle McCumbee, both of Berkeley Springs and Hannah Covalt, Hancock; one sister, Tammy Lynn Waugh, Charlotte, N.C.; three brothers, Donald, Charlie and Frank McCumbee, Berkeley Springs; six grandchildren, Hailey Ray, Gwenith Martz, Dillon Mallory, Tiara McCumbee, Gavin Rutherford and Ava Rutherford.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Darla Jo McCumbee.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 14 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, with Rev. Jack Hiles, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 14 from 10 a.m. until time of the service at 2 p.m.
