Jack M. Ritter

Jack M. Ritter, 86, of Berkeley Springs, formerly of Altoona, Pa., died Monday, June 4, 2012 at his residence.

He was born March 5, 1926 in Altoona, a son of the late Lavier M. and Mary Diehl Ritter.

He was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1950 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a Liberal Arts degree.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII attaining the rank of Corporal.

He retired from the Naval Oceanographic Office on August 30, 1974 after 25 years service.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home, Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Barry Yingling officiating. Interment will be made at Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona.
