Relay For Life, a cancer fighter
The regular monthly meeting for the Morgan County Relay For Life of Morgan County was held Monday, May 14, at Mountainside Restaurant, with 25 in attendance. Refreshments were provided by Mountainside.
Committee chairs gave reports and updates. An updated schedule was distributed.
Teams will be participating in “Paint The Town Purple” from June 1-10. Businesses downtown, in cooperation with the Relay teams, will decorate their store windows for Relay to bring awareness of the upcoming event. Businesses will be judged in three categories: most related to cancer, most purple and most related to the theme of “Toon Out Cancer.”
They will be judged Friday, June 8. Winners will be announced at the Relay event and will also be invited to ride in the Apple Butter Festival parade with Relay For Life.
The Block Party will be June 23, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Moose parking lot. Each team may set up a booth and proceeds will go to their team. Included is “Cruisin For A Cure,” a bike/car/truck cruise; music, food, Saw Jac, Moon Bounce, dime toss, money machine, face painting and many outside vendors will be set up.
Anyone interested in participating should contact Buffy Bradley.
There will be no more regular monthly meetings for this year’s Relay. May 29 is tentatively set for team captains to pick up t-shirts and the post-Relay dinner will be announced at a later date.
Relay For Life of Morgan County will be June 8, 6 p.m.-6 a.m. at Widmyer track.
