Spring concert June 3
Stitching together music from West Virginia’s early history to compositions written and performed by young artists, The Community Choir, Inc. presents a concert of choral and instrumental music at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 3 in the Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church.
With the theme “Threads of Our Lives,” the Living Springs Chorale, directed by Lydia Walker, and Springs Chamber Ensemble, directed by Linda Whitesitt, will offer selections from the early days of West Virginia statehood to present time, all pointing to a creative future for the performing arts and community music-making.
The program features two young, upcoming musicians. Concert goers will hear Alexander Marte with The Springs Chamber Ensemble playing J. S. Bach’s Concerto in A minor for violin. Marte is studying violin with Linda Whitesitt.
The Living Springs Chorale, accompanied by keyboard artist, Patricia Springer, will present the first public performance of a choral setting by Walker Williams of a poem by Andrew Barton Patterson. Williams attends Shepherd University in Shepherdstown.
A reception and refreshments follow the concert courtesy of Morgan Community Concert Band. All are welcome. Donations are encouraged. For more information, contact Lydia Walker 304-258-3031.
