Marie E. Stewart

Marie E. Stewart, 63, of Hancock, died Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, Md.

Born March 13, 1949 in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. Sr. and Thelma Geraldine Clingerman Wertman and wife of Talmadge Oakley “Sarge” Stewart, who she married on April 5, 1970.

She was a member of the Hancock Church of the Nazarene.

She was a 1967 graduate of Hancock High School, and a member of the Webster B. Harrison Post 26 American Legion Auxiliary.

She liked needlepoint and quilting.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Charmaine K. “Katie” Harden, Hancock; two sons, Brian L. Stewart and Michael P. “Mike” Stewart, both of Hancock; three sisters, Esther S. Mullenix, Williamsport, Md., Deborah Baum, Staten Island, N.Y. and Pamela G. Wertman, Hagerstown, Md.; three brothers, Carl E. Wertman, Jr., McConnellsburg, Pa., William H. Wertman, California City, Calif. and Timothy M. Wertman, Harrisonville, Pa.; five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 15, at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Rev. Jimmy Jeffries officiated. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Artemas, Pa.
