Gladys C. Morris

Gladys Charlene Morris, 66, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born January 28, 1946 in Elkton, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Robert and Bessie Elizabeth Shifflett Morris.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She attended public schools in Elkton and had been a homemaker for most of her life.
She liked antique Cadillac’s and was an avid Elvis fan.

She is survived by four daughters, Sharon Flowers, Clear Spring, Md., Carla Ann Coble, Martinsburg, Tina Louise Smith and Anita LaRee Day, both of Great Cacapon; one son, Arthur Lee Conkey, Jr., Berkeley Springs; six sisters, Helen “Dee” Younker, Elvarine “Boozie” Vanorsdale and Donna Weller, all of Hancock, Ruby “Petie” Kyger and Myrtle “Poochie” Greene, both of Chicken Hill, Va. and Evelyn “Dolly” Smith of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Norman Morris, Rochester, N.Y. and Kenneth Morris, Berkeley Springs; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Shifflett and three brothers, Robert “Buddy” Shifflett, James Morris and John Lee Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 17 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs with Chaplain Doug Knupp officiating. Private interment will be at Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Hancock.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
