Doyle G. Weller
Myrtle Beach, SC....Doyle Gail Weller, 78, died peacefully on April 26 at Hospice of Charleston in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina after a long illness.
Doyle was born on October 5, 1933 in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, a son of Wilton C. and A. Catherine Weller.
Doyle was proud to be a Mountaineer at West Virginia University and graduated with a B.S. in Forestry in 1955 and was a member of the Myrtle Beach Chapter of the Alumni Association.
After graduation Doyle spent two years in the United States Army and upon discharge he began a 41 year career at Osmose Wood Preserving and worked in many states. In 1964, he was made a manager and in 1971 he was promoted to the position of General Manager in the Division’s headquarters in Buffalo until he retired in November 1996 and moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Always an active golfer, Doyle was a member of the Men’s Club at Myrtle Beach National where he enjoyed playing golf with his many friends. He also loved gardening and traveling.
Surviving are his son Bradley K. Weller and his wife Karin Marten of Singapore; his loving partner of 19 years, Marjorie Bates of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Sylvia Hovermale of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and Beverly Lawyer of Ormond Beach, Florida; two granddaughters, Taylor and Anna Weller of Hartsville, South Carolina.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 6-8 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
