Robert D. Moreland, Sr.

Robert Dale Moreland, Sr., 66, of Berkeley Springs, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown, Md.

Born January 18, 1946 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Charles Elwood, Sr. and Pearl Irene Rush Moreland.

He was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
He was a graduate of Southern High School in Oakland, Md.

He had worked for 10 years as a firefighter with the Howard County Fire Department in Savage, Md. and most recently had worked as a technician with the WV Department of Natural Resources, Ridge Fish Hatchery in Berkeley Springs.

He liked hunting and carpentry.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Judith Marie Gaither Moreland, at home; one son, Robert Dale Moreland, Jr., Ortanna, Pa.; two step-children, Marjorie Kaye Jones, College Park, Md. and James Glenn Jones, Bristow, Va.; two brothers, Charles Elwood Moreland, Jr., Chambersburg, Pa. and John Ernest Moreland, Ft. Ashby; two grandchildren, Hanna Rose Moreland and Donald Robert Moreland, both of Crofton, Md.; one step-grandson, Henry Thomas Jones, Bristow and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Florence Esther Deam Moreland and one sister, Esther Darlene Friend.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 20 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs, with Rev. Patricia Watson officiating. Interment was in Union Chapel Cemetery.

Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs handled the arrangements.
