John S. Freeland, Sr.
John Sheldon Freeland, Sr., 67, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born December 27, 1944 at Texas, Md., he was the son of the late James E. Freeland and Patti Clark Freeland.
He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
He worked as a Park Service Employee for Baltimore County and retired in 1990 after 27 years of service.
He was an avid hunter, liked motorcycles and was an amateur musician.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Helen Rebekah Forwood Freeland; one son, John S. Freeland, Jr., Needmore, Pa.; one sister, Sue Grove, Delta, Pa.; two brothers, Wayne Freeland, Hancock and Thomas Freeland, Magnolia, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Christian Bachelder, Noah Freeland, Clayton Freeland and Nevaeh Freeland and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Freeland, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Route 9 Pious Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Ian Grant Spong officiating. Interment will be private.
