Glenn C. Smith

Glenn C. “Tink” Smith, 101, formerly of Piedmont, died at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg on Sunday, April 15, 2012.

He was born in Piedmont on April 5, 1911, the son of the late Charles H. Smith and Theresa Inskeep Smith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Pleasants Smith; one son, Clay Smith; one brother, Evers Smith and two sisters, Alma Coffman and Louise Taylor.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont. He was the last surviving member of the Class of 1929 of Piedmont High School.

He is survived by his daughter, Judie Pennings, Berkeley Springs; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 6 at Keyser High School, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bart Thompson, Pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service at the high school. Military honors will be held after the services outside the high school.
