Minimize the damage
Dear Editor:
I live in Frederick, Md., but I am aware of the animal control issues in Morgan County because my parents live there.
I adopted two dogs from Frederick County Animal Control. They are my pride and joy. I visited the Frederick County facility dozens of times to interact with the dogs that were available and adopted my first about six years ago.
I then went back every weekend for close to a year before I found the perfect companion for my first dog.
It is sad to think that the dogs taken in by the Morgan County Animal Control never have a chance to be adopted.
I have seen photos of their facility and can’t imagine how different my loving dogs may have been after spending time in those conditions. Not only the physical needs of a dog must be addressed, but also their psychological needs. Many scars never heal when such social creatures are isolated in inhumane conditions.
I hope this problem is remedied quickly to minimize the damage that is being done.
