Regional High School Science Fair

The Regional High School Science Fair was held Tuesday, March 6 at the Keyser Assemby of God Family Life Center/Exhibition Hall and at the Potomac State College of WVU. Fifteen students with 13 projects were eligible to compete. Ten students representing Paw Paw High and Berkeley Springs High were present on the day of competition.

Local students who placed within their categories were:

Behavioral and Social Sciences — Rachel Michaels, Berkeley Springs High, second place.

Botany & Plant Science—Kalee Sherrard, Berkeley Springs High, second place.

Chemistry — Savona O’Brien, Paw Paw High, honorable mention.

Environmental Sciences—Noah Caldwell, Berkeley Springs High, second place and Michael Pracht, Paw Paw High, third.

Engineering — Nathan Quarantillo, Berkeley Springs High, first place.

In addition to placement awards, special awards were also given.

Kalee Sherrard received a Walmart Sustainable Development Award.

Noah Caldwell received an UMCES Appalachian Laboratory Environmental Literacy Award.

Nathan Quarantillo received a National Society of Professional Engineers Award.

Students placing first, second and third were eligible to compete in the State Science and Engineering Fair held Saturday, March 24 at Fairmont State University.
