Relay For Life
The monthly meeting of the Relay For Life of Morgan County was held March 12 at Mountainside Restaurant, Berkeley Springs, with 26 present. Refreshments were provided by Mountainside.
There are 12 teams registered so far with 113 participants. Anyone wishing to join a team or form a new team may do so by contacting Jo Ann Blankley, 304-258-3601. It only takes five people for a team.
The spaghetti dinner and auction will be April 2 at the Berkeley Springs American Legion. Each team will get credit of the proceeds for their team if someone from that team volunteers to help. Auction items may be taken to the next monthly meeting or the day of the event. Any questions may be directed to Tracy Clement or Misty Clingerman.
March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month. West Virginia ranks highest in the nation for colon cancer, which is largely preventable. The American Cancer Society recommends everyone 50 or older to be tested. There are several test options that can be discussed with a physician.
The survivor dinner will be June 7 at First United Methodist Church, Green Street, Berkeley Springs, at 6 p.m. This is for any cancer survivor and a guest. Questions may be directed to Barbara Bailey.
March Madness team recruitment challenge is in effect until March 31. The Relay event that recruits and signs up eight teams with eight paid registration/commitment fees per team will receive a pizza party and game day snacks to be serve at a team meeting. The eight teams must consist of at least four new teams.
All team members must be registered by April 21 in order to get a t-shirt with the printing on the back. This is not only team members, but also for sponsors.
Mountain State Cruisers is sponsoring a Block Party with 100 percent of the proceeds to go to Relay For Life of Morgan County. June 23, at the Moose parking lot. Each can set up a booth.
Any questions or if interested, contact Buffy Bradley. Even though this is being held after the Relay event, fundraising may be done for this year through August 31. Check the website for other upcoming fundraisers.
The next monthly meeting will be April 16, 6:30 p.m., at Mountainside Restaurant.
Relay For Life of Morgan County will be held June 8, 6 p.m.-6 a.m., at Widmyer track, Berkeley Springs. The theme this year is "Toon Out Cancer," a cartoon-based theme.
