Why the public needs to know
Dear Editor:
In response to Janell Davis’ letter supporting the Country Inn and questioning why the public needs to know whether the Country Inn is current on their payments of their Hotel/Motel tax, I can only say “Are you serious?”
Over $60,000 was collected from customers and then withheld from the agencies that it belonged to.
That’s theft in my book. And when the court ordered her to repay what she owed, she bounced a check which, by law, should have landed her in jail for contempt of court.
The Town of Bath turned their heads to her two year old garbage bills.
I have a business in town and I know, without a doubt, had that been my late bill, my service would have been discontinued.
The Morgan Messenger has not consistently followed up on the progress of payments or legal actions. So, Ms. Davis, if you think the town has been hard on Nancy Sostaric, I beg to differ. In spite of all this mess, this is the tip of the iceberg. The fact that there isn’t a padlock on the front of the Country Inn amazes me.
Hold on to your hat, Ms. Davis, there is much more to come.
