Tree planting and training session set
February 24, 2012
The Town of Bath and Streetscape Committee will hold a tree planting and training session on Friday, February 24 at 1 p.m.
Volunteers will meet at the Hunter’s Hardware parking lot on the corner of Mercer and Union streets. Twelve trees will be planted by volunteers working with employees of Reading Landscapes and Garden Center.
Forester Herb Peddicord will teach a training session on how to properly plant trees.
The trees were purchased with a $4,500 Chesapeake Bay Community Grant awarded to the town and Streetscape Committee. The grant requires some matching funds from the town.
Councilman Andy Swaim urges volunteers to come out because the more people that attend, the more in-kind work can be charged against the required match.
