Red Cross on the scene
January 27, 2012
Dear Editor:
Regarding the front-page article, “Fire Destroys Mobile Home” in last week’s Morgan Messenger, I want to assure readers that American Red Cross representatives did indeed offer assistance to the family that lost their home, later that same morning after Fire Chief Grimley had left.
According to Red Cross policy for such destructive events, the family was given three nights’ free lodging and an allowance for food, clothing and shoes.
As an American Red Cross disaster volunteer, I am glad to be part of an organization that is one of the first responders to offer aid after a home fire.
