Indians 2-5 at Loudoun Valley
The Berkeley Springs High School Wrestling Team traveled to Purcelville, Va. last weekend for the Loudoun Valley Duals Tournament
Berkeley Springs defeated Heritage High School 39-30 and Obourn 34-30, but lost matches against Freedom, Potomac Falls, Broad Run, Cosby and Loudoun Valley to finish the two-day meet with an overall record of 2-5.
Kyle Shambaugh (195), Tory Bennett (182) and CJ Capps (113) finished undefeated with identical 7-0 records. Matt Parkinson (220) and CJ Gosey (285) were 6-1, while Billy Wilson (126) finished 4-3 and Josh Capps (132) 3-4.
"CJ Capps had a good meet and Kyle (Shambaugh) wrestled a lot better," said Berkeley Springs coach Darrell Bennett. “I was aslo pleased with CJ Gosey too. He came out late and is getting in shape. He may fool a few people down the road. We have our focus on the regional tournament which is just around the corner. It would be nice to get five or six qualifiers."
The Indians will compete in the Viking Smash this weekend in Petersburg, before ending the regular season on February 4 at the Potomac Valley Conference Tournament in Keyser.
