“Together, We Can!”
The African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" summed up the intent of the Together, WE CAN! Early Childhood Alliance Conference held at the Martinsburg Holiday Inn.
Keynote speaker, Jim Harris captivated his audience with his presentations on Five Things You Need to Know about Kids and Addressing Challenging Behavior. His opening remarks started with how external influences impact the development of children.
Educators, early interventionists and families gathered from across the Eastern Panhandle to attend the one day conference sponsored by RESA 8, WV Birth to Three, and RESA 8 Head Start/Pre-K/Early Head Start. 130 individuals attended from all the eight RESA counties.
Participants were able to grasp the different stages of hearing and speech development from prenatal through five years of age.
Partial funding was provided by the WV Early Childhood Training Connections and Resources, a collaborative project of the WV Department of Health and Human Resources/Bureau for Child and Families/Division of Early Care and Education; Office of Maternal Child and Family Health/WV Birth to Three; WV Head Start State Collaboration Office and the WV Department of Education/Office of Special Education.
