Freshmen boys defeat Clear Spring/Hedgesville

The freshmen boys traveled to Clear Spring Wednesday, January 18 and defeated them by a score of 45-33, led by Brandon McCumbee with 16 points.

“We played pretty solid defense,” coach Mike Burks said. “We just need to learn to finish on the offensive side of the ball. We miss way too many inside shots,” Burks said.

Robbie Bernstein had another good day of rebounding with 11 and eight points. Cameron Johnson came through with six points as did Joe Clark and Ben Solomon, Kobe Mellott finished with three.

The Hedgesville Eagles came to town on January 20.

At half time the score was 27-16 Indians. After that both the Indians and Eagles had a hard time finding the basket as the tribe only scored seven second half points and the Eagles 13.

The tribe came out victorious 34-29. Solomon was the only Indian in double figures with 14 points, 12 of them coming on for three pointers.

Robbie Bernstein came through as usual on rebounding with 15 and scored nine points. McCumbee scored seven, Johnson and Cory Asborn two, Clark did not score but had 10 rebounds.

The tribe is 9-2, they play this Wednesday, January 25 at 6 p.m. at home against Mercersburg, Pa. with the varsity to follow against Paw Paw.
