A waste of food

Dear Editor:

I recently stopped at the deli section of a large store just before it closed. The display case was full of food.

I asked the lady behind the counter what would be done with all that food at closing time. She held up two garbage bags and said it would be thrown out.
Apparently this is the policy at all such stores.

Food that is good enough to sell one minute should be good enough to donate to the needy a minute later.
