Day of Caring brings out many volunteers

About 70 people showed up for the United Way’s Day of Caring in Morgan County on Tuesday, September 13.

Volunteers met at the Board of Education building on Harrison Avenue in Berkeley Springs at 8 a.m. and were served a hot breakfast of bacon and eggs provided by War Memorial Hospital.

From there the volunteers disbursed to their assigned projects around the town and county. Projects ranged from weeding gardens and painting at public buildings to repairs at homes of elderly people.

Gardening, landscaping, painting and repairs were accomplished at eight public buildings and six private residences of the elderly.

A bag lunch was packed by volunteers in the morning at Starting Points to feed the hungry workers in the afternoon.

Nancy White was the chairperson for United Way in Morgan County.
