Those “No Zoning” signs
Dear Editor:
I grew up in Morgan County, went to school here and still come back to visit family. During my current visit, I couldn’t help but notice all of the “No Zoning” signs that seem to have sprung up all over the county in the past couple of weeks.
Do the taxpayers of Morgan County know where they came from and who paid for them? It would appear that they are recycled “No Zoning” signs from Berkeley County which were paid for by the big developers who defeated the zoning ordinance there in 2008. Make no mistake about it, if zoning
doesn’t pass in Morgan County, the big developers will be knocking on your door. Big development means more traffic, higher taxes, increased crime and a tremendous drain on the county’s limited resources.
Wake up, people, do you really want Morgan County to follow in the footsteps of Berkeley County? It’s not too late to save your county from uncontrolled development! Send back Berkeley County’s recycled signs and recycled ideas and stand up to big developers.
On November 2, vote yes for zoning and show Berkeley County that Morgan County can and will move forward to allow responsible development while retaining the rural character of the county we all love.
