Send us your zoning questions
You’ll be hearing the word “zoning” a lot in the next two months since a proposed zoning ordinance for Morgan County will be on the General Election ballot.
Despite all the articles and letters through the years, many people are still unsure exactly what zoning is and how they feel about it.
The November 2 vote will determine whether zoning will soon be part of Morgan County’s future. It’s not a popularity contest or a referendum on a politician. Please don’t make your decision simply because you like or don’t like people who are vocal about zoning one way or the other.
Between now and the election, The Morgan Messenger will run a series of articles trying to explain, as clearly as we can, what zoning is and how it might work. The first piece – “What is zoning?” – is in this week’s issue.
We encourage you to send us your zoning questions. We’ll try to answer some of them in articles next month. And, some questions may be used for the zoning segment of the “Meet the Candidates” forum at the American Legion on Sunday afternoon, October 24.
It’s to everyone’s advantage to learn the facts.
