Indian golfers second at Musselman Invitational; Beddow low medalist
Berkeley Springs traveled to Locust Hills twice last week. The Indians played in a triangular match against Washington and Jefferson on Tuesday, August 31 and then played in the Musselman Invitational, also at Locust Hills, two days later.
The Invitational was shortened to 15 holes, with Dylan Beddow leading Berkeley Springs to a second place finish by winning low medalist honors with a 62.
"Dylan has gotten a couple of things worked out and is playing very well," said Berkeley Springs Coach Dale McCumbee.
Jefferson won the team title with a score of 275 followed by Berkeley Springs 291, Hedgesville 295, Washington 307, Musselman 329 and Martinsburg 339.
Matt Walters and Zach Solomon each shot 74 for Berkeley Springs, while Josh Bragg fired an 81.
Two days earlier, Berkeley finished third in a triangular match with Jefferson and Washington.
The Cougars won the 9-hole match with a team total of 168. Washington was second with 172 and Berkeley Springs third with 179.
Once again Beddow led the Indians with a 41, Zach Appel added a 45, Walters a 46 and Solomon a 47 to the Berkeley Springs total.
"We are struggling a little bit here in the middle of the season," said McCumbee of his 20-7 squad. “Hopefully we can get back on track."
The Indians will host Jefferson and Musselman on September 9 and the PVC Class AA Division Tournament on September 13.
