Volleyball team loses opener

Berkeley Springs High School opened the 2010 volleyball season at home on September 2 against sectional rival Frankfort, with the Indians losing to the Lady Falcons in three games by respective scores of 25-7, 25-11 and 25-6.

"The main thing we need to work on is working together as a team and communicating with each other," said Berkeley Springs Assistant Coach Heather Lorigan. “We are ready to focus on the season now that we have made it through the first game."

Sam Ross led the Lady Indians with six points, while Maddie Shambaugh scored 25 for Frankfort.

The Berkeley Springs junior varsity lost to Frankfort in straight games, 25-5 and 25-7.

The Indians travel to Keyser on September 8, and to St. Maria Goretti on September 14.
