Golfers win triangular meet

Berkeley Springs High School shot a nine-hole, team total, of 169 to easily beat Keyser (184) and Frankfort (218) in a triangular match on Monday, August 9, at Polish Pines Golf Course in Keyser.

Dylan Beddow led the Indians with a two over par score of 36. Zach Appel added a 43, Josh Bragg a 44 and Zach Solomon a 46 to the Indian total.
"I thought we had a decent showing, but not all of the kids were happy with their score," said Berkeley Springs Coach Dale McCumbee. “They are sometimes tougher on themselves than they need to be, but I don't guess that is necessarily a bad thing."

Keyser's Evan Coleman was the low medalist with an even par score of 34.
A day later the Indians played in the Martinsburg Invitational at Stonebridge Golf Course in Martinsburg.

Matt Walter shot an 86, leading the Tribe to a third place finish in the 18-hole, five-team event, won by Jefferson. The Cougars winning total of 327 was seven strokes better than Hedgesville (334). Berkeley fired a 356, followed by Musselman 386 and Musselman 435.

Appel added an 87, Beddow a 90 and Solomon a 93 to the Berkeley Springs total.

"I feel pretty good about where we are as a team at this point in the year, but we have to become a little more consistent in order to reach our goal of reaching the state tournament," McCumbee said.

Cody Euler from Hedgesville carded a 75 to win the low medalist award.
The Indians host Keyser and Jefferson at Cacapon State Park on Monday, August 23 and will play Washington at Locust Hills on Tuesday, August 31.
