Police investigate home invasion
West Virginia State Police are investigating an apparent home invasion that took place early Sunday morning, July 25, near Great Cacapon.
Trooper D. Heil of the Berkeley Springs Detachment said two people
broke into a home demanding money around 3 a.m.
One of the perpetrators was armed with a baseball bat and mace and the other was armed with what appeared to the victims to be a hand gun, Heil said.
The home invaders were confronted initially by the mother and a son. There
were six people staying at the home.
According to Heil, the son was struck with the butt of a pistol and another male in the house was sprayed with mace.
They were finally scared off by the residents.
Heil said the suspects were tracked with a dog to the point where they apparently got into a vehicle and drove away.
State Police did not release or confirm any specific information about the
location of the crime or the names of the victims.
“This is an ongoing investigation and we are still in the investigative stage,” Heil said.
