Opposes mosque
Dear Editor:
The media had little coverage of the June 6 protest of the proposed mosque and Muslim community center to be built near Ground Zero in Manhattan. An estimated 10,000 protesters from all across America were on hand against this proposed sanctuary of “Death to America.” Apparently, the media didn’t think it was newsworthy.
To allow such an anti-American house of worship and training to be built near the site of the terrible 911 act of terrorism by Muslim extremists, is a direct slap in the face to every person who lost their life in this terrorist attack on America. Ground Zero is hallowed and a war memorial and should be treated with the utmost sensitivity.
Americans have sensitivity triggers and this is not a trait only represented by those of the Muslim world. Many folks poke fun at the God of Jesus Christ.
To allow a shrine with an Islamic flag near our sacred ground is offensive to the greater part of America. Why do you think Mayor Bloomberg, Senator Schumer, Governor Patterson and the president are staying low and allowing this project to move forward without any objection?
It is time once again for the majority of Americans to write and take a stand. It is time to make your voice known to our leaders that you object to this anti-American worship and training center near the heart of the 911 attack.
It is up to us to make a difference in this memorial site. Are you in favor of this mosque being built near the grounds where so many of our own were brutally killed by these Muslim extremist? If not, take a stand for what is right!
