Hey, big spender!

Here’s a good question. What two groups threw the most expensive parties to wine and dine West Virginia legislators this past session?

No, not the West Virginia Coal Association or labor unions.

Top spender: The Independent Oil & Gas Association, which, of course, has lots of money to sway opinion.

Coming in second was the West Virginia Association of Counties, which some have dubbed the Booze & Shrimp Club. The association spent nearly $30,000 at a February bash so county officials could hobnob with and presumably influence legislators.

The big bucks, of course, came from tax dollars since the association is mainly funded by dues from the 55 counties.
Your tax dollars at work.
