Donald E. Nickles, Sr.

Donald Edward Nickles, Sr., 81, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born June 9, 1929 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Adrian Winfield and Margaret Elizabeth Miller Nickles.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Baltimore.
He attended the Parkville Elementary School, Hamilton Junior High and Edison Vocational High School, all in Baltimore.
He had worked in residential construction, in canvas fabrication for boats and cars and retired from the water works department of Baltimore City.
He is survived by four daughters, Carole Stinson and Barbara J. Nickles, both of Baltimore, Kathleen Miller, Arbutus, Md. and Patricia Collurafici, Dundalk, Md.; three sons, Mark Nickles, Towson, Md., Joseph Nickles, Baltimore and John Nickles, Berkeley Springs; one sister, Carolyn Thuman, Summerfield, Fla.; one brother, Adrian Nickles, Monkton, Md.; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Virginia Harrison Nickles on January 7, 1957, his second wife, Barbara Ann Beall Nickles on September 23, 2006 and one son, Donald Edward Nickles, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 28 at the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 29 and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 30 at Evans Funeral Chapel, 8800 Harford Road, Parkville, Md.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 31 at Evans Funeral Chapel, 8800 Harford Road, Parkville, Md. Interment will be at Moreland Memorial Park, Baltimore.
