William E. Gill
1924-2010
William E. Gill, 85, previously a resident of Berkeley Springs, died April 30, 2010, after a long illness in Tallahassee, Fla.
He was born November 25, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Mich., son of the late Nella Wagemaker Gill and Gaylord C. Gill.
He graduated from the Ashberry College of Liberal Arts of Depauw University in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 and the army reserves from 1952 until 1956.
He was a member of the American Legion.
He retired from Hagerstown Bookbinding and Printing (HBP) in Hagerstown, Md. in 2005 after almost 20 years as sales and marketing manager there. He was a member of the Printing Industries of America.
He liked breeding and showing dogs.
He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Martin Gill, Portales, N.M.; one daughter, Katherine Gill, Houston, Texas; one step-daughter, Marian Schalk, Chattanooga, Tenn.; one step-son, Paul Robinson, Tallahassee, Fla.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Bauman Gill and one brother, Gaylord Gill.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24, 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at Spohrs Crossroad, 5377 Martinsburg Road in Berkeley Springs.
